Becoming a Consultant Solicitor

Updated: May 24, 2022

I am so excited to start my journey as a consultant solicitor working under the wing of Austen Jones solicitors. Why am I leaping into the world of consultancy away from the traditional law firm structure?

The change allows me to work with a level of autonomy that I've never had, but always craved. I choose my hours. I can attend my sons' school plays guilt-free. This brings me much-needed balance to an ever-demanding journey of life. The bonus of a happier life/work balance is that I can also offer a more flexible service, with appointments that suit the busy needs of my equally busy clients. It's exciting to carve my path. I'm able to offer a client-centric service.

I qualified as a solicitor in 2009, took a career break with children, and entered back into the legal industry in 2017. I have had the opportunity to build up a wealth of experience in several law firms in Weybridge, Reading, Oxford, and Gerrards Cross. I met clients from a range of backgrounds. Whilst, I loved the varied work and the wonderful people I've met along the way in the legal sector, I've always want try do things a little differently.

My motivation for flying solo under an umbrella firm is to allow me to offer a modern twist to legal advice.

So here it is - a leap of faith into a new way of working!
